Innovation Management

The consultancy offer for the design and development of new products

The Product and Technology Innovation is one of the main levers that companies have to maintain and develop their market competitiveness. Today, innovation means having the ability to:

  • create new products to meet market needs ever more rapidly and frequently;
  • manage conflicts in the pressures for diversification / customization of product and the need for standardization (cost containment and profitability).

We believe that, although traditionally associated with the creative instincts of the individual, the innovation is really a business process that, despite its high specificity, can be planned, controlled and improved. To help companies be more innovative and better manage the innovation, we adopt an approach that combines the principles of "Lean Design" to those of a "fact-oriented marketing" . To us this means a very concrete understanding the real needs of the market (explicit and latent), and a translation of them into concepts of product / service enabling the principle of "value for the customer" be combined with operational efficiency. Our approach is based upon the following reference model: innovation management chart

We start by listening and analyzing the market needs to generate, through qualitative and quantitative analysis, ideas about new products / services, select, translate them into successful projects by specific methodologies of project management and maximization of the profitability of the product in its entire life cycle. We especially support companies to effectively:

  • increase the degree of success of new products on the market;
  • reduce the time to market;
  • meet the target cost of projects and products;
  • improve the quality (responsiveness to the needs / specifications - improved reliability);
  • reduce the direct and indirect costs of manufacturing, by actions on the product;
  • manage orders/ projects (in engineered or configured to order businesses) effectively.

To achieve these objectives we use specific methodologies (some of which are proprietary, such as the VRP ®, Visible Planning®, Setsuban Kanri ®) and adapt to different cultural, business and organizational business of our customers. We provide interventions that range from training on "basics" to support to product development teams. From project management, to initiatives for the development of individual skills of design engineers about the continuous improvement of their own performance and of the performance of the processes they are involved in. One constant feature of our approach is we work with / on people, in the belief that each path of change has in people the most important source of opportunities for its success. Here are some example of results achieved in projects (in a few business fields):

  • average contribution of the new products to business sales (+30 ~ 50%)
  • time to market (- 20 ~ 40%)
  • target cost (difference between actual cost and target cost within the start of production < 5%)
  • product quality (bad quality due to internal causes -60%, guarantee costs due to product unreliability - 20%)
  • engineering efficiency (- 20 ~ 40% of rework and unplanned activities at the design stage )
  • product costs (- 10 ~ 25%)
  • delivery of made-to-order products (100% of product on time deliveries, no penalties).
